Brandywine
Recreation Area
Brandywine Lake Recreation Area is a picturesque area
featuring swimming, fishing, camping, and picnicking. This 10-acre lake
is the center of activities at the Brandywine Recreation Area. The
swimming area has a capacity of 500 people. Boats without
motors are welcome beyond the swimming area. The lake offers good
fishing for stocked trout and is encircled by an angler’s trail.
Reminder: A West Virginia fishing license is required to fish in the
lake. A hard surfaced trail extends from the parking lot to a
wheelchair accessible fishing pier on the east side of the
lake. The facilities at the recreation area include a sand
beach for swimming, picnic tables, 34 camping units with flush toilet
facilities, changing rooms, and nearby hiking trails. Each campsite has
a tent pad, picnic table, lantern post, and grill. Vault and flush
toilets, warm water showers, drinking water, and a trailer dump station
are available. Water is cut off early each fall due to freezing
temperatures.
Breaks Interstate Park

Interstate Park is the home of the deepest gorge east of the
Mississippi River. It encompasses 4,500 acres of
woodland with stunning views. Their campground is open each
day from March 21 through October 31. There are 122 tent
sites available with full hook-up, electricity (with 50 amp
service for RVs),
water and sewer. And no reservations are taken. Some of the
activitys are horse back riding, pool, restaurant and white water
rafting.

River Campground
North river campground is the first place that I ever camped in my
life. This is a great place to become one with
nature. This little campground is located in the
western part of Augusta County. It has approxamently 18
campsites in the campground. Now there are campsites along
the dirt road as well that are free. The nightly fee for
camping in the campground is $5.00. Facilities
include two vault toilets, 16 fireplace grills, and 18 picnic
tables. North River Campground is a Recreation Area that was
previously used as a base of operation for the Civilian Conservation
Corps (CCC). The campground is open from March 1 through
December 8. Drinking water is no longer avalible at the
campground. The nearest grocery store, gas station, propane
gas, and public telephone is seven miles north at the Stokesville
Grocery Store. North river dam which is a source of water for the City
of Staunton is located about 1/2 mile past the campground. This lush
watershed area provides ample opportunity for fishing, hiking,
observing wildlife, and nearby boating and swimming.

Rappahannock River Campground
is located in Richardsville, VA. The Rappahannock River is in
a natural setting, virtually unchanged by civilization. It
flows through Civil War Battlefields, abandoned 18th century gold
mines, and ruins of an early 1800s canal system. The scenery
is a breathtaking sight you'll never forget. Trips depart at
8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Cost is $28.00 per
person. Our tubing trip features class I and II rapids, takes
about 4 hours, and costs $17.00 per person. Shuttles leave at 12:30
p.m. and 2:00 pm. Check-in is required 30 minutes prior to departure.

Shenandoah Hills Campground is located
in Madison, VA. They have open sites and some shady sites all
tucked away and ready to become your cozy vacation home. Water and
electric sites are available as well as plenty of full hook-up sites.
Some are pull thrus that will easily accommodate larger RV's. There are
70 sites in all as well as some rental units. You can laze
away the days by the pool or take a luxuriating nap in the shade. If
you're feeling frisky, venture into the surrounding area and discover
the magnificence of the Blue Ridge Mountains and all they have to offer
including horseback riding, hunting and fishing.

Todd Lake Recreation Area is secluded in the foothills of Trimble
Mountains of the Alleghenies. It is roughly a 20-acre recreation area
that offers a variety of outdoor activities, including swimming,
camping, hiking, and picnicking. The lake has a sandy beach
that borders the 7.5 acre lake. There is a swimming area with
access to flush toilets tables, grills, restrooms with
running water, showers and changing area. The recreation area
also has small playgrounds. Boats with electric
motors or paddles are allowed in the non-swimming area of the
lake. There is also the trimble mountain trail which is four
mile trail that begains near the entrance to the campground.
The average hiker takes about three hours to hike.
